
Crime and Punishment
Crime and Punishment is the first study of its kind in the Middle East, as it presents the views of Egyptian Attorneys on the phenomenon of torture and the means to fight it. The study has made several recommendations to the Egyptian Parliament including:
- Preventing the extension of the Emergency Law
- Not assigning any Police officers to the Department of Public Prosecutions
- A recommendation to the Minister of Justice to order prosecutors to investigate any complaint they receive regarding torture
- A recommendation to the Minister of the Interior to perform periodic psychological evaluation on Police officers
- A recommendation to the Press Syndicate and Bar Association to work together on preventing this phenomenon
