New law for NGOs
An experts panel formed by the UG developed a draft law for a new NGOs law within the framework of “Empowering Civil Society” project implemented with the support of US Agency for International Development.
The panel was headed by head of social legislation department at the faculty of law- university of Cairo-Dr. Ahmed El-Borai, and the members were: deputy of the legislative committee at the Shura council- deputy Taher El-Masri, deputy of the human rights committee at the peoples assembly – deputy Mohamed Amer Helmy, director of the Hisham Mubarak law center- Ahmed Seif El-Islam, and scientific consultant of the project Negad El-Borai.
The draft law was discussed in a conference attended by more than 450 NGOs which approved of the law and submitted by the UG to specialists.
