The Guillotine and the Pit
“The Guillotine and the Pit” study issued by the United Group, the first of its kind as it tackles freedom of expression and opinion in Egypt between 2002-2003
Title of the study indicates to freedom of expression condition, where Negad El-Borai says that by observing the laws controlling freedom of expression and the surrounding social climate we’ll find that whoever declares their opinion freely in Egypt, they may either get cut by the guillotine or thrown in a pit.
This study consists of eleven chapters discussing freedom of expression and rights including the right to strike, demonstrate, forming associations and parties, plus freedom of expression through writing.
The study was issued in 2004 with the support of embassy of Switzerland in Cairo.
