Eye witness

“Eye Witness on Egyptian parliamentary elections 2005” study evaluates course and results of the parliamentary elections through eye witnesses appointed by the UG. By recording their observations and witnesses across 36 circlets on a governorate level, circlets were selected based on anticipating the circlets with the hottest competition whether between official candidates of NDP or prominent opponents who were not nominated by the party through the party’s lists or by virtue of being among candidates lists of the circlet such as; business men for the major role money had played in these elections.
The evaluation was also based on reports and follow ups by newspapers in order to fulfill all aspects of the theme.

Witnesses written by researcher Essam Eddine Hassan – Chief editor of “Swaseya” magazine. The book was printed with the support of Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) within the framework of “Looking to the Future” project.

The study consists of four chapters; first chapter includes the legal environment of the parliamentary elections, second chapter: the elections process, third and fourth chapters on parliamentary elections through eye witnesses and decisions of the administrative judiciary.
