Civil Society and Human Rights in Egypt

This paper was presented by Mr. Negad El-Borai in the workshop: “Beyond Apology and Utopia: Critical Engagements with Good Governance in the Arab World,” that was held during the period October 23-24 2009, at the University of Windsor, Canada, with the aim of evaluating the Canadian policies towards the Arab World.

The paper tackles the general situation of civil society associations in Egypt and the situation of human rights movement in particular, regarding its history, the restrictions encountered by it, its achievements, its areas of success and failure.
