A manual directed to the active civil society elements that contribute every day, throughout the world, to the promoting the protection and advancement of human rights.
This guide has been developed after a survey among users of the first edition of the guide, and thus the second edition become updated and revised in a comprehensive and focused way. It revolves around the United Nations bodies and mechanisms on human rights. When the guide speaks to civil society elements, including but not limited to NGOs, it explains how civil society can be involved in working with various United Nations bodies and mechanisms of human rights.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights hopes that this guide might allow greater numbers of people to enjoy their human rights and claim them through these bodies and mechanisms.
