News - Legal Unit

Damanhur Court of First Instance ruled in its session of October 29, 2009 to dismiss the case filed to expel Behera Regional Union of NGOs from its office. The Union has rented a flat in Damanhur City to be used in implementing one of its activities. The relation between the Union and the landlord was going well until the Union was surprised by the decision of the heirs to file a lawsuit to evacuate the flat and hand it over to the heirs under the pretext that the contract has ended.

Based on the request submitted by the Union, the Legal Unit at United Group assumed the defense in this case and prepared a defense memorandum focusing on the right of the Union to continue in this landlord-tenant relationship, even after the contract period is due, as long as it pays the rent regularly, supported by number of laws and verdicts of the Egyptian Court of Cassation.

This memorandum was submitted to the Court in its session of October 01, 2009, and the Court decided to retain the case for ruling in its session of October 29, in which it ruled by the aforementioned verdict.
