Establishing a Qualitative Union for NGOs working on Development and Public Funds Protection

In the scope of the "Community Action towards Transparency" project, implemented by the United Group with the support of the USAID, the United Group held a strategic planning workshop for the members of the "NGOs Network for Protecting Public Funds in Aswan". The workshop was attended by 16 individual representing 14 NGOs working in different fields.

The attendees reached the conclusion that there is a need to transform the network into a Qualitative Union that works in this field and comply with the requirements of the Law of Associations No. 84/2002.

The attendees have chosen the name "The Qualitative Union for the NGOs Working in the Field of Public Funds Protection" for the newborn union. Furthermore, one of the attendees offered temporary HQs for the Union to start the establishing procedures.

The most significant goals set by the founders of the Union are:
- Community Development.
- Raising awareness of public funds and protecting it.
- Intensifying the efforts to organize public funds.
- Achieving the popular monitoring mechanisms for preserving public funds.
- Raising awareness of the legislations related to accountability and transparency in order to protect public funds.
- Conducting constructive research to reduce public funds abuse.

And finally, the attendees concluded that there is a need for the Union to work with all the members of the society, and especially the regulatory agencies, whether executive or popular, as well as with lawyers, journalists and teachers of the preparatory and secondary stages.
