In the framework of the "Empowering Civil Society and the Legal Profession" project, implemented by the United Group with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in adherence to the principle of continuous consultation with the Heads of Regional Unions of NGOs to implement the project in the governorates and explaining the planned activities. Dated Tuesday, March 09, the project organized the Fourth Consultative meeting for the Heads of the Regional Unions of NGOs of the target governorates.
The meeting discussed the progress of the project so far, the new developments, the functioning mechanisms of the Sub-Legal Aid Units for NGOs, as well as the means of continuity of the project when it ends. The participants reported continuing successes of the project and stressed the importance of the services and publications provided by the project. Furthermore, they acknowledged the achievements of the Legal Aid Unit in winning the cases that give the associations the right to the 50% reduction on their water and electricity consumption granted to them by law. They also discussed the means of sustaining the success of the project after it ends. They agreed upon continuing the alliance between the Unions by forming a network among them to continue the activities of the project while making technical and practical horizontal developments that reflect the needs of NGOs, through the experience obtained from the current project. The meeting was attended by the Heads of regional Unions of NGOs of Cairo, qalubia, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Giza, Behera, Port Said, Aswan and Minia. The United Group was represented by Mr. Negad El-Borai, Attorney-at-Law and Senior Partner, Mr. Ehab Sallam, Project Manager, as well as Messrs Ehab Rady and Mahmoud Rady, Assistants Project Manager.
