The weekly article of Mr. Negad Al-Borai in Al-Masry Al-Youm Newspaper on 09/24/2009, in which he comments on two news items that were published in Al-Masry Al-Youm.
The first news reports President Mubarak's visit to Carrefour, a fancy mall in Maadi district, while the second news reports the intervention of police forces in Dakahlia governorate to control the people that gathered while the National Democratic Party was distributing bags containing 2 kgs of rice, 1 kg of macaroni, 1 kg of flour and 1 kg of dates. Mr. Al-Borai believes that the two news items show that development in Egypt is not taking the correct path. The fancy mall is not an indicator of the situation of internal trade and the bag distributed by the NDP Dakahlia highlights the lack of a clear vision of development and its target groups.
