UG discusses irregularities in Damanhour Stadium PDF Print E-mail
News - Community Action towards Transparency

In the scope of the "Community Action towards Transparency" project, implemented by the United Group with the support of the USAID, and on the basis of the protocols of cooperation signed with civil society associations and Regional Unions of NGOs, Behera Regional Union of NGOs organized a seminar on December 30, 2009 to discuss public funds abuse in Damanhur's Stadium.

The attendees of the seminar amounted to 30 people including members of civil society associations, members of the local councils of Behera governorate and a number of lawyers, journalists and parties' secretariats.

The seminar was opened by the speech Mr. Hosni Younis, head of Behera Regional Union of NGOs, which he started by welcoming UG efforts is combating corruption, revealing its incidents and raising people's awareness on how to fight it. Then he identified the role of civil society associations in combating public funds abuse.

The irregularities were presented including, conducting studies and designs that cost more than one million pounds, keeping the land of the old stadium after dividing it into 77 pieces to be sold, the bad choice of the location of the new stadium and the its location under a high voltage network, which is dangerous and denies the stadiums chance to be an international stadium.
