News - Empowering Civil Society and the Legal Profession
The initiative of the Legal Aid Unit for NGOs, of the "Empowering Civil Society and the Legal Profession" project, to file lawsuits to grant NGOs the exemptions prescribed to them by law wasn't a sort of imagination. The Unit took the responsibility of fighting for NGOs to provide them with all the rights granted to them by law, in an attempt to improve their working conditions, to be able to perform their expected role towards society effectively.

The Unit succeeded in obtaining two new judgments acknowledging the rights of both Tuka and Nour Charity Association and the Islamic Services Association, in Kafr El-Sheikh, to obtain 50% reduction on their water and electricity consumption. This judgment was issued by Tanta Court of First Instance.

This initiative comes in the framework of the "Empowering Civil Society and the Legal Profession" project, implemented by the United Group with the support of the United States agency for International Development (USAID).
