In the framework of the "Community Action towards Transparency" project, implemented by the United Group with the support of the USAID, a seminar entitled "Public Funds Abuse in Kidney Diseases Center" was held at Huda Association for Protecting Environment - Mansoura. The United Group was represented by Mr. Muhammad Ali, lawyer, who spoke to the attendees about the hotline of the project through which they can report public funds abuse incidents. The seminar was attended by a number of public figures, members of local councils, journalists and lawyers from Mansoura. The seminar was held on Sunday December 06, and the main speakers were Ms. Hwayda Samir, Director of Huda Association, Mr. Nabil El-Dib, journalist, and Mr. Seif Al-Din Muhammad El-Sayed Amin, member of the local council. The seminar discussed the irregularities of the financial report of the Kidney Diseases center in Mansoura including: not following the expiry date of medicines that worth more than 200,000 pounds which led to their corruption without benefiting from them. The attendees asked for open discussion to present their inquiries that included: the fate of the reports filed to the Attorney-General and why they are kept without investigation. The discussion also tackled the role of press in reviling public funds abuse incidents and raising citizens' awareness to start taking action to stop these incidents and the problems that face journalists in doing that.
