For six successive days CATT prepares the trainees of Phase II PDF Print E-mail

In the framework of the "Community Action towards Transparency PhaseII" project, the United Group has organized two separate trainings for the members of civil society associations, lawyers, journalists and members of local councils, from the target governorates, namely Suez, Alexandria, Assiut and Monoufeyya.

The first training targeted the trainees of Suez and Assiut in Ain Sukhna city during the period 8-10 August. The training program encompassed many important issues, including how to differentiate between the judicial and non-judicial public funds control bodies, as well as practical training on how to monitor and document cases of public funds abuse, as well as how to views in writing reports and reporting.

The activities of the second training event, which targeted the trainees of Monoufeyya and Alexandria, who were more interactive, was held during the period from 12-14 August in Ain Sukhna as well. There were lot of positive points in this training, including the willingness of all groups to join the Fighting Corruption Network and their commitment to submit a large number of public funds abuse reports in their governorates. The training was concluded by distributing the certificates to the trainees in the presence of Mr. Negad El-Borai, Attorney-at-Law and the Chairman of the United Group, and the coordinators of these governorates.

- Coordinating between programme.
- Selecting, managing and evaluating employees.
- Writing assessment reports on the projects.

2- Financial Manager (M/F).
Experienced in
- Developing financial reports for development projects.
- Dealing with taxes and social insurance.

Candidates for both posts must:
- Have minimum 10 years of experience.
- Be fluent in English and Arabic.

In the framework of the project "Community Action towards Transparency," implemented by the United Group with the support of the United States Agency for International Development, the United Group continues its campaign to network NGOs to promote transparency and protect public funds. Dated Sunday, August 2 2009 the United Group held a meeting at Aswan governorate in the Faculty Members Club with 25 NGOs, in the presence of Mr. Muhammad Mahmoud Heweidi, Head of the Specialized Union for Local Community Development, to launch the "NGOs Network for Promoting Transparency and Public Funds Protection."

The meeting was attended by the representatives of a large number of NGOS, whose work cover various fields.

The UG team made a presentation about the network, including its mechanisms, members and discussed with the members its objectives, structure, how to develop its work and implement its activities in real. The attendees agreed on launching the network and signed the code of conduct of the Network, furthermore they agreed on nominating Mr. Muhammad Heweidi and Ms. Attiyat Mitwalli Badri to be the members of the coordinating body of the project, which would be responsible for following-up the activities of the network in Aswan.

Al-Siyasy Electronic Newspaper (The Political) had conducted an interview Mr. Negad El-Borai in his capacity as one of the as one of the most important human rights activists in Egypt and the Arab world, as well as possessing good reputation in the fields of human rights and civil society organizations and for his bold views.

In his interview with Al-Siyasy, El-Borai responded to many of the inquiries that have been following him since a while ago, especially regarding the rumors that say that civil society organizations only seek to seize the funds of donor countries that amounts to millions.
