This report is the first report issued by the Legal aid unit for supporying torture victims.

The report covers the period from December 2012 until February 2013, it contains all the complaints received by the unit, and the cases detected from different media means. The report provides quantitative and qualitative analysis for the complaints received by legal aid unit and analysis for the crime itself and the geographic scope for such crimes. The report also briefly mentions the reasons why the offenders in such crimes are not punished.

It's worth mentioning that this report comes in the framework of the project "Frosting Rights and Empowering Egyptians - FREE" implemented by United Group in cooperation with Bar Associations in targeted governorates and with the support of Finland Embassy in Cairo and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Orientation training workshops for lawyers on providing legal assistance to victims of sectarianism PDF Print E-mail

In the frame work of the project "Promoting Freedom of Belief & Religious Tolerance in Egypt" which aims at promoting the freedom of belief in Egypt and fighting sectarian incitements, and implemented by the United Group with the support of Embassy of Switzerland, the United Group will conduct orientation training workshops for lawyers from "Cairo, Alexandria, Fayoum, Minya, Qena, Aswan and Sharkia" governorates on providing legal assistance to victims of Sectarianism within February 2013.

In the frame work of the project "Frosting Rights and Empowering Egyptians - FREE" which aims at fighting torture and promoting the right to physical integrity, and implemented by the United Group with the support of Finland and Sweden Embassies, the United Group will conduct orientation training workshops for lawyers on providing legal assistance to victims of torture and cruelty within November 2012. The workshops will be conducted in Ismailia, Alexandria, Qaliubiya, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Fayoum, El Arish, Behira, Minya, Beni Suef, Sohag, Qena and Marsa Matrouh" governorates.

Please note that the United Group will review the applications and will notify the selected participants before Wednesday 31st of October 2012.

On Wednesday, June 20th 2012 in Salon Vert, Cairo Marriott Hotel, United Group - Attorneys at Law, Legal Advisors & Human Rights Advocates - organized a press conference titled "The Egyptian People and the Constitution" in collaboration with Al Andalus Institute for Tolerance and Anti-Violence Studies within the framework of the political awareness project "Let's Change for Tomorrow" funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

United Group is organizing a conference entitled with "Civil Society without Borders" on Wednesday April 4, 2012, at Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel.

The conference which will be attended by more than five hundred civil associations from 17 different governorates, aims at determining the final general frameworks that should control the NGOs draft bill which is prepared by United Group in coordination with associations regional unions in 11 governorates, and it will be written and edited by an expert committee headed by Dr. Ahmed El-Borai, professor and head of social legislation department and the former Minister of the Ministry of Manpower.
